Has anyone else noticed the new Amigos background and thought to themselves… “Didn’t know this was a blog page about The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” or maybe… “Holy shit I think the Blair Witch is out there,” or even… “Well we use to have a baseball theme up there that was kinda creative even if we did have to look at Devin and Marty conspiring to take over the world one Ballpark at a time.”

Devin… I want to stab my eye out with a pen looking at the new back drop… can we lighten the mood just a little… no one’s pets have died and the last time I looked out the window there haven’t been any nukes dropped on the AAC, while maybe there should be as we look at another horrifying run to the playoffs with the Mavs.

Hey guys… if you have any friends or anyone you may know who wants in on the Amigos Fantasy Baseball League send them to the links in the previous posts! We have three teams and would probably need at least 8 to get started… this is a very beginner league and is designed more to have fun with the Amigos and keep in contact through the baseball season. Sure competition is high, but I have very low expectations of doing anything fantastic as this is really my first go.

As I’m killing time waiting for everyone to arrive I figured I’d post something real quick… thanks to Devin for letting me use his PowerBook for a second year in a row as I facilitate another draft for my Mom out of town by Instant Messaging her every picked player so that she stays in the know as if she was really here drafting…

Anyway… I’ve got a couple of Leagues I’m playing in but regardless of my pathetic draft for the AMIGOS LEAGUE I won’t let Gette get me down… I plan to win so look out bitches!

I understand what it takes to run a business… I also understand when you don’t have a profitable business the best solution 9 out of 10 is to just close the whole thing down. What I don’t understand is how the coolest Hard Rock Cafe in the world and the only actual building that the company owns is going out of business.

Hold on… let’s back up.

Devin and I decided to go pay homage to the Dallas Hard Rock Cafe yesterday. I think that out of all the Cafe’s I’ve been to it’s the coolest one ever. Come on! It’s the “Supreme Court of Rock & Roll.” How cool is that. Originally built in 1904 as the McKinney Avenue Church and from there it became many things, but none as fascinating as in 1986 when it was converted into the 4th Hard Rock Cafe in the USA and 9th in the world. This awe-inspiring structure has assets such as 50-foot high stained glass renderings of Elvis, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis, as well as a beautiful domed ceiling and World-Famous Guitar Bar that replicates Eddie Van Halen’s world famous Kramer guitar. And let us not forget the Cheese Club.

Anyway… as we dug more into the real story of the closing we soon realized that it all came down to money and upper management would rather see this historic building and all the tradition go down in flames than spend the money to renovate it. Hell they are spending more money on keeping things running that it would cost to actually fix the problems! As a loyal Hard Rock fan and keen eye for “bullshit,” I’m definately calling the flag, but none the less there is nothing I can do or anyone else for that matter so all I can do is enjoy the times I had there and hope that the next one they build will bring some of the tradition of the old one with it.

In the meantime… most of the staff is heading off to the “House of Blues,” but don’t expect me there anytime soon. I’m not ready to turn in my All Access card and I certaintly am not going to stop collecting those stupid pins they keep making, so come one and come all to the last of the great cafe’s in the world… you only have until March 4, 2007 to make it happen! I’m hoping that I will see a new Hard Rock Dallas sooner than later but I think I’ll just stay in Fort Worth a while because I don’t really have a reason to drive out to Dallas anymore, and if you need more information… read the title of this blog.

All I ever do is lose… the closest I have come ever in this stupid frustrating game we play is 2nd, and it was the first year I played… I’m starting to feel like Marino!
